April 22, 2021 marks the 51st Earth Day, themed this year as ‘Restore Our Earth’. In celebration of this event, our Creative Team has developed new themed merchandise available now for purchase. This year, our Creative Team outdid themselves by combining the established NVINY logo with a variety of plant life to fully embrace the spirit of Earth Day. Shirts, masks, backpacks, stickers, water bottles, tote bags, phone cases, and more bear our new designs.
We are also happy to announce a new design featuring perhaps the most recognizable visual metaphor of nonviolence. Since Luxembourg’s generous donation to the UN in 1988, “Nonviolence” or “The Knotted Gun” has stood outside the United Nations Headquarters in New York. Originally, Swedish sculptor Carl Fredrik Reuterswärd made the statue of a colt revolver with a barrel tied into a knot following John Lennon’s assassination. Over time, the statue took on additional significance and replicas and homages have found homes across the globe as symbols of disarmament and nonviolence. Nonviolence International New York has joined in that spirit of homage with a new design, featuring a more-knotted version of the gun, which now adorns a variety of items available for purchase.
You can find all our merchandise here: https://www.redbubble.com/people/NVINY/shop and please remember, every purchase of NVINY merch goes toward supporting our projects to promote nonviolent methodologies around the world.
