Fiscal sponsorship allows individuals, grassroots movements, and organizations to receive tax-deductible donations, apply for grants, and access nonprofit benefits without the need to form a 501(c)(3). Instead, a recognized nonprofit acts as your fiscal sponsor, providing legal and financial oversight.
The NonviolenceNY Network partners with nine fiscal sponsor organizations that specialize in supporting peacebuilding, human rights, social justice, and community initiatives.

How the Process Works

2️⃣ Review & Matching – Your inquiry is reviewed and shared with one of our nine fiscal sponsors for the best fit.
3️⃣ Full Application – If a sponsor is interested, you’ll be invited to complete a full application.
4️⃣ Approval & Agreement – Once approved, you’ll sign a fiscal sponsorship agreement outlining responsibilities.
5️⃣ Start Fundraising & Operating – Gain access to nonprofit benefits, fundraising tools, and ongoing support.
Guidance from a Philanthropy Coach
When you join the NonviolenceNY Network’s Fiscal Sponsorship Program, you’ll be paired with a Philanthropy Coach—an experienced mentor who will guide you through the process of running your nonprofit.
Your Philanthropy Coach will help you:

How to Qualify for the NonviolenceNY Network’s Fiscal Sponsorship Program
To be eligible for fiscal sponsorship through the NonviolenceNY Network, your project must meet the following criteria:
✔ Mission Alignment – Your work must align with peacebuilding, social justice, human rights, education, or community development.
✔ Charitable Purpose – Your project must serve a public good and be eligible under 501(c)(3) nonprofit guidelines (no private business activities).
✔ Operational Readiness – You should have a clear plan, budget, and leadership team or be willing to develop them with guidance.
✔ Funding Strategy – You must be prepared to fundraise, apply for grants, or receive donations to sustain your project.
✔ Legal & Ethical Compliance – Your activities must align with legal, ethical, and nonprofit financial standards.
